Glimpse: The Power to Change the World

We want [advertising] agencies and brands to be mindful of the power they wield and to use it to encourage positive values in society. Things like empathy and tolerance, community and togetherness deserve to be at the heart of our culture.”

Those are the words of James Turner, the founder of Glimpse, which is “a group of creative people who want to use our skills for good.” According to the Glimpse website, “We aim to make positive social change feel attractive to millions more people. Instead of focusing on the problem, we show ‘glimpses’ of a better world that’s possible.”

catHow? One way is the Citizen’s Advertising Takeover Service (C.A.T.S) campaign that Glimpse successfully funded and implemented in a London metro station. The group raised $30,000 through crowdfunding and replaced every advertisement in the Clapham Common subway station with pictures of cats. The reason for doing it? Simply, “We want to inspire people to think differently about the world and realise they have the power to change it.”
